🇨🇦 Best Roulette Sites in Canada

It is hard to imagine a casino without a Roulette wheel. We bet you can’t either. Since its invention in the 18th century, Roulette has offered an exciting gaming experience to casino players all around the world.

Today you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home to place bets on your lucky numbers as Roulette tables are available online and even in mobile casinos, thanks to numerous technological advancements.

If you are curious about its origins, we can tell you that the game was invented in France. Roulette, it sounds French, doesn’t it? Actually, its name means literally the little wheel and it was invented by Blaise Pascal, a French mathematician, physicist, and philosopher. It is a by-product of the perpetual motion machine construction, to be precise.

He created the primitive form of the game which was later in the 18th century introduced as a game of chance. We will help you to understand how the game works and how to improve your chances of winning while playing it.

The reasons why Roulette is so popular among casino players can be found in the fact that its rules are quite simple. You will easily understand the way it works, but if you want to win while playing it for you and become a master of the wheel, you might find useful this comprehensive video and our guide to Roulette.

This article is focused on RNG roulette, we’ve got a separate live roulette page if that is what you are looking for.

Great Roulette Sites Have...

Not all roulette sites are created equal. Some are great, some are awful, and many land in the grey area between those two.

Roulette is a casino game that is well known for its volatile nature, so we’ve pointed out some obvious (and some less obvious) metrics that we keep in mind when looking for new sites to list and possibly recommend.

High Betting Limits

Roulette has been a favourite amongst high rollers at online casinos for a long time, not least due to the high betting limits that are often attached.

With the likes of 888 Casino, BetVictor, and Mansion Casino amongst many others offering betting limits in the tens of thousands, Roulette remains at the top of the list for many looking for a high risk high reward gameplay experience.

Equally High Withdrawal Limits

Getting high betting limits is one thing, but it stands for very little if you can’t withdraw your winnings if you get lucky from a high bet.

When recommending sites, we look at both the betting limits and the withdrawal limits, and those we prefer tend to offer withdrawals up in the tens of thousands at least.

If you happen to bet $20,000 on one number on a roulette wheel and it comes in, there’s probably no site that will let you withdraw all of your winnings at once. However, the best sites are those that take the least number of withdrawals to get it all.

You’ll find all the Roulette sites we recommend that have high betting limits, also have high withdrawal limits to balance that out.

Some Type of Loyalty Program

If you’re wagering tens or even hundreds of thousands on a game with a 2.7% house edge (in the case of European Roulette), you’re going to want to know that there is something in it for you more than the chance of winning big.

For most online casinos offering Roulette games, that something more comes in the shape of a Loyalty Program.

VIP and Loyalty Programs come in all shapes and sizes, so it’s important to know what you’re looking for in order to decide on what the best option is for you.

For the high rollers, you’ll want to look at how good the prizes are at the top ranking, normally called Diamond or Platinum or something else suitably lavish.

These high-end rewards come in the shape of cashback, deposit matches, bonus points, and more. While these rewards are similar (just higher in value) to those found in the lower reward tiers, the best sites also provide extra perks.

These extra benefits vary, but often involve invites to private events in land-based casinos, holidays, and more.

Good Selection of RNG Roulette Suppliers

Live Dealer Roulette may be the hot topic at the moment, but there are still many players who prefer the old school method of playing traditional online Roulette. Most online casinos providing table games, live or otherwise, will also have straight online Roulette games, and you need to know they’re fair and good quality.

As a result, you want to make sure a casino has a good collection of random number generator (RNG) roulette games provided by top-quality game developers.

Graphics, animations, smoothness of gameplay, and interface all matter when it comes to roulette games, and the best providers, such as NetEnt and Playtech offer all that and more.

RNG Roulette Suppliers

Table and card games may have once felt ignored by major developers, but that is certainly not the case anymore. Even suppliers who focus mainly on another game type such as slots, have a strong selection of RNG table games including Roulette, and also consisting of Blackjack and others.

Most of these developed offer Live Dealer games, but for some players, the preference is still for RNG games, and the best of the main software providers offer a good variety of these too.

Microgaming

Microgaming has numerous Roulette variants with some standing head and shoulders above others. Premium Roulette, for example, has everything you want from a Roulette game in terms of gameplay, but is visually disappointing, with fairly basic graphics and animations.

Where Microgaming stands out is with its Gold Series. Gold Series European Roulette is a strong looking option, the table is well-spaced and easy to navigate with the ability to customise it to your personal taste. The gameplay is smooth and seamless, and recent wins are listed on the screen in case you are using a strategy.

The possible highlight of Gold Series European Roulette is simple, yet effective, providing a close up of the ball stopping on the reel so you don’t have to squint to try and work out what number it has stopped on.

Microgaming probably aren’t the best when it comes to RNG Roulette games, but Gold Series European Roulette can provide a fun and immersive playing experience.

Playtech

Roulette is not a priority for Playtech and that is very apparent when trying the provider’s games for the first time (or indeed any other time).

Their European Roulette offering is fine. It’s not great, it’s not terrible, it’s just fine, graphics are fine, gameplay is fine, it has everything you need, but nothing more than that.

Playtech’s Premium European Roulette is a step up, but in all honesty, not really enough of one. The sound effects are a little irritating, especially the less than excited voice announcing the results of each spin, who seems casually indifferent even when announcing “you win!”.

There are normal and racetrack bets here, but the green table, and the boards don’t look too exciting. The one thing this game has going for it is the wheel, which is one of the most graphically impressive you’ll find in an RNG Roulette game. If the rest of this Premium Roulette offering from Playtech was up to that standard, this would be a considerably more immersive experience.

Netent

NetEnt has always had a way of making simple games feel unique, and the developer’s Roulette selection continues this impressive trend. NetEnt’s simple European Roulette has everything you need, a simple, effective layout, immersive sound effects and graphics, racetrack bets, and more.

Roulette Advanced takes the immersion up a level, while the gameplay is, for the most part, similar, including hot and cold numbers, statistics of the game, and special bets, but the graphics and animations are a step above here. The table is larger, with the racetrack and basic board both visible, and the sight of stacked chips by the wheel is a nice touch. Visually, this game is a little let down by the wheel itself (basically the opposite problem to Playtech’s Premium Roulette), which doesn’t feel as graphically crisp as the rest of the visuals on screen, but you can look past that soon enough.

Sights and sounds combine well with NetEnt to provide an impressive Roulette offering, and the background music, as simple an addition as it is, really adds something else to the experience.

Evolution Gaming

Evolution Gaming is a developer that is focused purely on table games and it shows in everything they do. Known best for Live Dealer innovations, this supplier also provides unique RNG Roulette experiences.

One of the finest examples is First Person Roulette, which is essentially like any other RNG Roulette game you’ll play, except that it isn’t at all.

The game begins with you having (as the name suggests) a first-person view as you approach the table and take a seat. In quite a charming touch, if you leave the game untouched for a while, you will step away from your seat.

The green game board houses the numbers and the racetrack, and you will lean over for a closer look as you place bets. When you’ve placed your bet(s) and you spin the wheel, your view will then move to a view from over the wheel, so it’s easy to see where the number lands. The wheel is graphically beautiful, even down to the markings on the metal showing where it was ‘made’.

First Person Roulette (which also has a “Go Live” button for when you fancy a live experience) is an incredible offering from Evolution, but it isn’t the only one.

Lightning Roulette is another first-person RNG offering from Evolution, and is based on the popular Lightning Roulette live game.

This is like no other RNG Roulette game you’ll play, and it’s all the better for it.

Lightning Roulette has all the same basic touches as First Person Roulette, but changes direction rapidly when the Lightning arrives. The realistic graphics and animations are punctuated by lightning strikes with up to five numbers hit by lightning each round for a big payout, even if they don’t come in on the wheel.

Evolution is known as the king of table and card games for a reason, and their RNG innovations mean the developer is likely to hold that crown for a long time!

Scientific Games

Evolution Gaming aren’t the only developer bringing new twists to RNG Roulette, the popular Scientific Games have thrown their name in the innovation hat too, mainly with the interesting and exciting Monopoly Roulette Tycoon which, as the name suggests, combined Roulette with the evergreen Monopoly board game.

If this game was just a Roulette game, it would be nothing worth discussing as the graphics and animations aren’t particularly impressive, and the gameplay brings nothing new, in terms of Roulette. But this isn’t just a Roulette game.

If you flip the board (via a Monopoly board symbol on the board) you will open a Monopoly board, where you can make side bets on Monopoly properties, this doesn’t affect payouts from Roulette bets.

If you’ve made at least one Monopoly side bet, you have four spins of the wheel for the ball to land on red, if it does, you enter a Monopoly mini-game. The idea here is to land on the properties you’ve made a bet on, passing go increases property value, Community Chest gives extra bonuses, and Go to Jail ends the round.

This game comes with a jazzy soundtrack and an exciting voiceover explaining the rules to you, which add to the whole playing experience nicely.

Quick note here, the most recent time we played this game, a bet on both Roulette and Monopoly resulted in the game crashing and the ball simply spinning around the wheel forever without stopping, which is quite pleasant to watch along with the jazzy soundtrack, but isn’t really the point of the game.

In terms of Scientific Gaming, this is the only Roulette title really worth bothering with, everything else is pretty basic.

Gaming1

Gaming1 is slowly making its name in the world of table games, and the interesting mix of Roulette titles available from this supplier is a larger part of the reason for that.

The regular European Roulette game from Gamign1 is notable for its simplicity, with everything tight together in the screen, a simple green backdrop, a smooth jazz soundtrack and crisp graphics and animations providing an impressive no-nonsense Roulette game.

VIP European Roulette is the same game, except with a blue table and higher bet limits, the same soft voiceover and soundtrack provide the same calming feel, but apart from the betting limits, there’s little different here (unless you much prefer blue to green).

If you’ve always felt Roulette games take up too much space on the screen (or you want to play Roulette while doing something else) then Gaming1 have a simple solution, Vertical Roulette.

Close-ups on the game board and the wheel (depending on whether you’re betting or spinning) help this variation stay in a tiny screen, apart from that, it’s the same game as above, also available in regular and VIP versions.

The jewel in the crown for Gaming1 is Roulette Deal or No Deal, which is, again, available in a VIP mode for higher bet limits. Even without the addition of the Deal or No Deal bonus feature, this would be the best Roulette game in the Gaming1 collection.

A visual feast for the eyes, with everything you need present on the board, and graphics and animations that are a cut above the already impressive other offerings from the developer.

However, there is more to this game, in the shape of the Deal or No Deal bonus round. When the ball lands in the yellow B, you enter the bonus round, and pick a case out of 26.

You then go through a series of rounds as amounts up to $200 are eliminated, every three cases you will get a banker offer until there are two cases remaining. Here you will get one final offer, and the chance to keep your case or switch for the other remaining case.

If you bet on the bonus symbol on the Roulette board, you will get an extra bonus too. This is a fun game, combining Roulette with the TV giant that was Deal or No Deal for an extra dose of entertainment.

Our Favourite RNG Roulette Tables

All providers know how to create a basic looking European Roulette table, these are much of a muchness, with nothing really to tell them apart. We all have our favourite developers, but truth be told, one supplier’s basic Roulette offering is essentially the same as the next.

That’s not what this section is about, however. Here we point out the suppliers who go that extra mile to provide something more than a simple Roulette experience, using the benefits of the online environment to add interesting features and gameplay modes to simple Roulette games.

First Person Lightning Roulette (RNG)

This Evolution Gaming offering, as we briefly mentioned above, is a must for any Roulette fans looking for that extra level of excitement to their gameplay.

Firstly, this game looks excellent, with a dark colour scheme adding a sophisticated feel to the photo-realistic graphics and animations. As with regular First Person Roulette from Evolution, you get the experience of sitting at a table, and looking across the board to place your bets, and moving to get a close up of the reel when it spins.

Everything about this game feels professional and classy, and that in itself is enough to make it stand out as one of the best. But, there’s so much more.

The ‘Lightning’ part of this Roulette game comes as up to five numbers are struck by lightning for a bonus of between 50x and 500x your bet as Lucky Payouts for a straight payout, or as a Lucky Number for a multiplier on a payout, but only from a straight-up bet.

For the most part, this is more for aesthetic than anything else, why you can pick up some nice bonus wins, it’s rare for them to be huge, and this mainly plays out like a normal Roulette game.

However, the added excitement, combined with the electrical sound effects and intense soundtrack, create a truly immersive experience here.

If you’re looking for that extra level of immersion, then like all Evolution Gaming RNG Roulette games, just click on the ‘Go Live’ button and you’ll be taken to the live version of the game.

Monopoly Roulette Tycoon

If intensity is the feeling created by Lightning Roulette, then Scientific Games’ Monopoly Roulette Tycoon is the playful and fun alternative for an immersive Roulette experience.

Again, for the most part, this is a straight-up Roulette game, just with a more cheery voiceover and an upbeat, jazzy soundtrack. However, the Monopoly side of this game adds a lot.

Spin the board and place your bets on the Monopoly board, and you’ll get a chance to have the ball land on a red section of the wheel on the next four spins, which is pretty likely.

If this happens, you’re transported onto a Monopoly board, where Mr Monopoly will run across the board (it would be nice to pick between the boot, the boat, etc, but this will do) and the aim is to have him land on the property or properties you made side bets on through dice rolls.

The next best thing is to pass or land on goal, where you will see the value of the properties rise, while Community Chest and Chance cards also have their benefits. Go to Jail will end the round.

It’s important to note that anything that happens on the Monopoly Board will not accept the ROulette payouts and vice versa, this is essentially two different games that are operating at the same time, to add an extra level of fun to what would otherwise be a fairly basic and unimpressive Roulette game.

Double Ball Roulette

We return again to the lords of innovation, Evolution Gaming, for Double Ball Roulette, a simple addition to the basic idea of Roulette that creates a whole host more fun.

Essentially all the happens here is that two balls are dropped onto the wheel with each spin instead of one, which is, in itself, pretty much the only big addition, but it immediately makes the game more exciting.

While it may be assumed that having two balls immediately makes the chances of winning more likely, that isn’t the case here, as the rules are a little different. To win an inside bet, only one of the two balls has to land on the corresponding number, doubling the chances of winning, but for outside bets, both balls must land on the correct number, halving the chances.

There are also gold bets which allow you to bet on both balls to land in a single or a certain number, the payouts here can go up to 1300:1 so it’s certainly worth being aware of, the chances are low, but the reward is huge if you’re lucky!

Like all Evolution Gaming titles, Double Ball Roulette looks incredible, realistic and smooth graphics and animations and excellent gameplay.

However, more than any other Evolution game, you may well find yourself tempted to press that ‘Go Live’ button, as the Live Dealer version of this game is undeniably preferable.

Roulette X2

This title from Golden Rock Studios is worthy of a mention, but can’t really stand up against the other games above in this list.

This is essentially because, if you take away the single innovation in this game, you’re left with a basic, fairly below average roulette game. The graphics are okay, as are the sound effects, and all you need is visible on the board, but the animations are basic, there’s no soundtrack, it all feels pretty bare minimum.

However, it is the 2x in the title that allows this Golden Rock Studios developed game to have a place on this list (even if it’s on the bottom of it). Dice will roll on every winning spin, four dice in total. If these four dice show the same number, then you win double.

That’s it, that simple, but a pleasing addition nonetheless. It’ll make no difference to most winning spins, but every now and again you may find yourself picking up a tidy 2x bonus on a win.

Golden Rock Studios have gained the attention of Microgaming amongst others recently, and the definite potential in this game shows why. It’s not mindblowing, but it’s a good start from an indie developer looking to make an impact.

Roulette Betting Systems

Various tricks and roulette systems have been tried by players for as long as Roulette been in existence.

It is important that we point out here that there is no winning roulette system. Unless you are cheating in some way or the wheel is rigged, Roulette systems will not affect the house in any way.

We have listed some of the most popular strategies below, but use this resource for the purposes of fun only, do not expect any of these systems to guarantee a win, or even promise a higher chance of winning. These are betting strategies more than playing strategies and should be approached with care.

Martingale System

The Martingale System is a progressive roulette strategy and is one of the most commonly used by newer players for outside bets.

Put simply, the Martingale System involves doubling your bet after every loss.

The simplicity of this strategy is a large part of its popularity amongst newbies. However, you will not find many experienced players using this system due to the clear negatives involved.

Firstly, this is a very risky strategy and can see big losses occur quickly, secondly if you have a set budget, it may not last very long.

Some prefer the Paroli method, also known as the Reverse Martingale, where you double your bet after every win.

While this is a less risky method, it is also not one that is given much credence by experienced players.

Labouchere System

The Labouchere System is a more complex strategy that involves some mathematics and is usually used for even bets, such as Red/Black or Even/Odd.

This strategy takes some getting used to, but once you’ve got your head around it, it’s simple enough.

First, you set yourself a target amount, let’s say $20 as an example. You then separate the number 20 into smaller numbers, in any order you choose, for example:

2 – 4 – 2 – 4 – 4 – 2 – 2

For your first bet, you take the two numbers from the far sides of the sequence (2 and 2 in this case) and add them together for your best bet, which would be €20 here.

If you win, you cross out the two numbers used (for 4 – 2 – 4 – 4 – 2) and do the same again, betting with $6 this time, in this example.

If you lose, you keep those numbers in place, and add the amount you have just spent to the end of the sequence, for 2 – 4 – 2 – 4 – 4 – 2 – 2 – 6.

This sequence, known as a Split Martingale, with a less severe progression than the Martingale. Big losses are still possible, but at least don’t happen as quickly.

The end of the strategy comes when you’ve crossed out all your numbers, but obviously it’s not that simple. It’s very possible you will not cross out all your numbers before your money runs out.

Fibonacci System

The Fibonacci System is one for the math fans, without a doubt. This system may initially seem like an insane idea, and there is probably truth in that to an extent. However, the Fibonacci System does make more sense than it may originally appear to.

The Fibonacci System is a sequence of numbers created by adding the total of the previous two numbers to create the next number, it is found in both science and nature and is an intriguing study in itself, but that’s not what we’re here for.

To simplify, here are the first seven stages of the Fibonacci Sequence:

1 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 – 8 – 13 – 34 – 55 – 89

For this system, primarily designed for even bets, you can start wherever you like in the sequence and bet that amount (which is endless) and go up one place if you lose a bet (from 5 to 8, for example). If you win a bet, go back two steps in the system, and bet that amount. IF you have started at the beginning, simply stay there if you win, and move up if you lose.

While this is another safer variation of the Martingale System and can put you in profit quicker, there are still high risks to this system, mainly because the numbers in the sequence really start to go up after the 10th number above (the next five numbers are 144 – 233 – 377 – 610 – 987) so a losing streak can see you go from a $1 bet to a $987 bet in 15 rounds if your luck isn’t in.

This is an interesting strategy, but one that needs some care.

D’Alembert System

The D’Alembert System essentially takes the logic of the Martingale System and decreases the risk of big losses. It doesn’t increase the chance of winning, but it does flatten the curve when it comes to how much you can lose in a short space of time.

One of the simplest methods (especially when compared to Fibonacci or Labouchere) this is another strategy aimed at even bets like Red/Black.

First, you must select a unit, a percentage of your budget for the Roulette game. You may need to bet man of these units, so make it low. Experts recommend either half or a third of a single percent of your total budget.

In this strategy, you start with a single unit, and add a unit for every loss, taking one away for every win. In this way, it is similar to the Martingale System, but instead of your bet doubling each loss and potentially getting swiftly out of hand, the amount you bet rises much slower.

For example, if you are working with 0.5% of your budget as a unit, after six consecutive losses, you are still only betting with 3% of your budget. On the flipside, any gains will also be smaller, making this a low risk to low reward strategy.

There is no higher likelihood of winning here than any other strategy, but it is a safe and easy one to follow.

How to Win at Roulette?

The answer to this question is simple, yet disappointing. There is no way to guarantee a win on Roulette. Roulette is a pure game of chance and your odds of winning never change on identical bets.

Some struggle with what is known as the ‘Gambler’s Fallacy’, this is the logic that tells you if the ball has landed on red seven times in a row, it must be more likely for it to land in black the next time.

This is not true, however, every spin has the same odds of landing on a specific number, a specific colour, or anything else, and is unaffected by the spins that came before.

It is certainly possible to win at Roulette, but there’s no way to improve your odds, so bet carefully, don’t spend money you can’t afford to lose, and hope luck falls your way.

The Truth About Roulette Systems and Strategies

As well as the systems mentioned above, you will find numerous people on the internet (and often in person in casinos) telling you they have the perfect Roulette strategy that is guaranteed to raise your chances of winning.

This simply isn’t true. Unless cheating is happening in some way, such as a rigged wheel, there is nothing that can be done that can make winning more likely on every spin.

The strategies above are more focused on betting, to try and help you cover your losses by betting strategically in a certain order. These strategies are great if the wheel falls in your favour. But if it doesn’t, you can lose big.

The only real strategy worth paying attention to in Roulette is this one;

Never bet money you can’t afford to lose, and step away from the table if losses get close to your limit.

Roulette Types You Can Play

As we have previously mentioned, you can choose from a wide array of software suppliers offering Roulette variations. At most casinos, you will be offered to play European and American Roulette, but many online casinos in the modern day offer considerably more than that.

We will introduce a few of the most popular versions of Roulette, which form the basis of most variants of the game.

European Roulette

European Roulette is played at a table with a wheel featuring the numbers from 0 to 36. Place your chips on the numbers of your choice and touch the Spin button.

When the ball has landed, you will easily see if you have won or lost. European Roulette features a single zero which means that it has 37 pockets.

This variant of online Roulette is operated by the RNG and the outcome of each round is random. You can choose from a wide betting range and awards are paid based on your bet type and value. The house edge is 2.7%.

American Roulette

The main difference between European and American Roulette is in the number of zeroes on the wheel. The American variant features 38 boxes from 1 to 36, as well as two zeroes, a single and a double zero.

Both zeros are coloured in green. Because of two zeroes, the house edge is higher and the odds of winning are lower than while playing European variant.

French Roulette

French Roulette is another variation of the game which is named after the country it comes from. It features a unique table and has the lowest house edge of all Roulette titles.

Thanks to one game rule used only in French Roulette, the house edge is only 1.35%. You can also choose the numbers between 1 and 36 and the wheel contains one zero. The uniqueness of the French table is in the fact that all numbers are white in colour.

The house edge is lower thanks to the La Partage rule which says that you lose only a half of your bet if the ball falls in the zero pocket. However, this works only if you have made an even bet in the previous round.

The other helpful rule is the Call bets rule or a set of rules like Third of the Wheel,

Finales a Cheval, Orphans and Neighbours of Zero. This may be the answer to the question why online casinos does not have this game in their standard offer.

RNG Lightning Roulette

RNG Lightning Roulette works very similar to the live version of the same game. What you gave here is a basic Roulette game at its heart, but with some high-intensity difference to add extra levels of excitement.

Bets are made and the wheel is spun as usual, but before every spin, lightning will strike the board. This results in up to five numbers becoming different for that round, with between 50x and 500x attached to them.

This either results in a straight payout regardless of result, or more regularly, a multiplier being added to your win.

This Evolution Gaming Roulette offering provides excitement like no other game, not only due to the gameplay, but also thanks to the soundtrack and animations creating an explosive impact (quite literally).

Live Roulette

At Live Casinos you can find a range of Roulette variations at live tables which are in most cases 24/7 open. These games are streamed live and you have to act according to the instructions given by a live croupier operating the game.

It is a definite benefit to not have to leave your home to enjoy placing bets on your favourite numbers at a Roulette table. What’s more, you can monitor the croupier’s actions and chat with him or her as well as with other players as if you are at a land-based casino.
